Business owners nowadays are always looking for opportunities to boost team moral and create stronger bonds between team members. Often this can take the form of additional training sessions, company dinners or work parties, but there is one method that always sees the best results.
Team building activities in environments outside of the workplace excel in promoting leadership skills, team spirit and forming bonds within a relaxed environment.
Nae Limits have offered corporate team building activities to businesses throughout Scotland for decades now, and have built up a wealth of knowledge in safety, team activities and event creation. We are experienced in creating team activities that promote creative thinking within a workforce, teamwork skills and problem solving skills which can then be transferred back into the workplace.
We hope that after a team building day at Nae Limits, your team comes back energised and excited to put their new skills and relationships into practise.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Team Building in the Workplace
During the lockdown in 2020 and early 2021, many workers began working from home and in more isolated environments in order to still be able to perform their daily tasks safely. Because of this, the knock-on affect amongst workforces all around the country has been significant. Team members no longer know each other as closely and the social elements of being in the workplace have reduced substantially.
Because of this major change, it is important to consider how best you can connect your team and foster new and existing relationships so as to get the best out of your employees – both through their productivity and well-being. You may still have many people working from home or hybrid working, and thus it is important to create these opportunities for team building through the likes of outdoor team building activities at Nae Limits.
How Can Team Building Events Help My Workforce
Create Positive Relationships Between Co-Workers
It is so much easier to work with people you like! By giving employees the opportunity to become friendly with one another, it opens a space for conversation. Whether someone may be struggling and has been too nervous to voice it, or whether someone has bucket loads of exciting new ideas for the company but has never mentioned them for a number of reasons, by encouraging employees to bond it gives them a safe space for conversation and evokes a positive attitude in the work place. And after all, happy people work harder!

Improved Communication Skills
Similar to the above, team building events gives co-workers the opportunity to talk to one another in an environment outside of work. When working on group projects, it is important to have positive communication skills to be able to explain the task and address any issues.
At Nae Limits you may be building outdoor huts, building fires, navigating rapids, scaling waterfalls or bouncing along in a raft. All these tasks require the ability to plan, delegate, explain instructions – in a word “communicate” your overall task and personal tasks to those around you. All of these skills can then be brought back to the workplace. You may be identifying leadership skills and project management skills as you go!

Improved Problem Solving Skills
One of the challenges teams face is the ability to problem solve under pressure without feeling too overwhelmed and stressed. It is important therefore to learn how to problem solve through team building and communication. Many of the activities you will take part in at Nae Limits involve finding a solution to an issue that will require multiple people taking part to complete, as well as multiple skill sets. These skills will be incredibly beneficial to your work force as they will learn how to utilise their team when facing problems and cope better in a high pressure environment.
Allow Remote Teams to Meet and Work Together
As there are a large volume of employees now working from home or taking part in a hybrid working lifestyle, a team building day can be a great opportunity to allow co-workers to meet each other and create positive relationships.
With new bonds being formed this can increase productivity in the workplace and allow employees that may feel isolated due to home working to feel more included in team moral and spirit.
Remote employees will be given the opportunity to engage with co-workers they may never have worked with and create new contacts throughout the workforce that may assist with providing additional knowledge, training or support.

Improved Motivation
Many employees report that they feel more motivated and encouraged to perform at their best after taking part in team building activities. By providing these events to a workforce it shows your employees that you are willing to invest in them and take an interest in their enjoyment at work and their workplace relationships. A team that feels supported will always work more effectively than a team that feels their employers don’t care!
Why Choose Outdoor Events for Corporate Team Building Activities
The big “W” of 2023 is “Wellbeing!”. In general, many people are far more aware of their own mental health and mental health needs. Workforces are often confined to small office workspaces, or large overwhelming call centres. It is important therefore to provide your employees with opportunities to bask in the great outdoors. One study reported that as little as 20 minutes per day spent outdoors in the fresh air can help reduce stress levels!
There are a number of benefits to exploring the great outdoors with your team-mates at a Nae Limit’s team building event. Removing your team from their usual office or workplace environment removes the need for the “workplace mask” and allows co-workers to behave more like themselves in a more relaxed manner.
Spending time in the outdoors has often been attributed to reduced stress levels, depression and anxiety, as well as providing a “positivity boost” to you day. It is important to engage with nature to allow yourself to feel grounded in your environment and step away from the stresses of everyday life.

Kascadia
Kascadia is Nae Limit’s ultimate water based team building event! Designed to test your limits and take you out of your comfort zone, Kascadia is comprised of a variety of land and water-based activities that only the quickest and sharpest will be able to solve. We’ve taken our local gorge and mapped out a series of land and water-based activities that will test your team work and communication skills. Highland Games
Roll up! Roll up! Assemble your team and get ready to take part in the Nae Limit’s Highland Games! Highland games are in ingrained in Scotland’s culture and have been a means to celebrate our community and heritage for centuries. Spectacle, sport, music, and dance combine into one big celebration of Highland culture. Each Highland games event has its own character (and characters!) but at their heart the games are a way to make new friends, show hospitality and have fun. (And let Highland Warriors show off their strength, of course).
The Nae Limits Highland Games honour this tradition but with a few modern twists. Our famous BBQ gives hungry warriors a chance to fuel up before battle and the winning Clan walks away with a prize Bottle o’ Whisky or Prosecco. Competition is fierce!
Let the best team win!

Wilderness Challenge
Our Wilderness Challenger is our most popular activity! Appealling to all ages, this team building experience will test your communication, cooperation and delegating skills making it the ultimate experience for team bonding. Using your knowledge of scavenging, building, crafting, and creating, this series of team building exercises and challenges will see you and your team traverse streams, mountainsides and forest floors. Learn how to purify water, make shelters, and navigate rivers and forests to see if your team can be the ultimate harmonious unit.
Our Wilderness Challenge lasts approximately 3+ hours in the outskirts of the Cairngorms Mountains. As you traverse the various geographical elements, keep an eye out for the famous wildlife that resides there. The nearby Cairngorms are filled with some of Scotland’s rarest wildlife including wildcats, ospreys, pine martins, rutting deer, and even golden eagles. So, keep an eye on the sky, and on the ground, there’s a variety of creatures to be found!
