Summer Holidays 2020 – Nae Limits from a parent’s perspective
Wow 2020 so far has dealt us a challenging hand. Within 10 weeks our lives have changed from school runs and after-school clubs to a life of home-schooling, device battles and no school uniform in sight! We, (in my case “I” as a single Mum) have overnight had to morph into a cleaner, teacher, entertainer and disciplinarian all in one go. And we had absolutely no training for this.
As a family, we have re-learnt how to keep ourselves entertained within our own 4 walls but re-ignited our passion for being outside as a family – swimming in local watering holes and even making poo sticks age 15 (the shame!). Family adventures have become significantly more important to us all and we have become ever more grateful of all that Scotland has to offer in terms of fun outdoor activities.
As the school term comes to a close, as a parent – I am looking to my own doorstep for adventure days out in Scotland for Summer 2020. Lockdown has had a devastating effect on tourism and hospitality and while I am a Mum, I am also a business owner in this sector and currently wishing and hoping it all comes good this year. Nae Limits has been part of my boys life since….well birth, and this year was going to be no different for them. Days spent chilling around the centre were the norm, as was hopping on a River Raft, Gorge Walking with friends or joining other customers on an Adventure Tubing trip.
So what can we expect this year? Well, we finally seem to be noticing green shoots of hope and like this Nae Limits family; other people are starting to get in touch about family adventure holidays, content to stay within Scotland and discover some of the more fun
outdoor activities without even boarding a plane. Bliss!
So what might we do ?
For families with younger children (6-12yrs) we are anticipating running Gorge Walking and Adventure Tubing, with Rafting introduced from August if social distancing allows. For older kids, we will be running Quad Biking, Lower Bruar Canyoning and those activities
as above.And from when ?
We are aiming to reopen in Phase 3 around 4th July for larger groups, though “bubble bookings” may be considered from 1st July. We will be receiving sectorial guidance on June 18th which will give a more definitive answer with regards capacities.
A new timetable of activities for online bookings will be published around June 18th however we are currently creating new slots “on hold” and “on request”.
Flexi-booking ?
Absolutely. We anticipate opening at around 20% capacity which means availability will be limited. Deposits to secure your date will now be 25% with the balance payable 7 days prior (1 change will be permitted per booking). We can currently hold bookings without a deposit till 19th June so please contact us regarding this – info@naelimits.co.uk
What measures are you taking in light of COPVID-19?
Safe Operating Procedures for the delivery of our activities have been re-written and will be posted on our website shortly. In brief, these will include new ratio’s for transporting of customers, amendments to guide:customer ratios, increased protocols for washing of PPE and measures within the centre to keep customer contact to a minimum. These are in addition to our stringent current operational procedures.
And finally – the Family Pass
Our family pass offers a great saving for 2 adults and 2 children (12yrs and under) to come and experience an activity at Nae Limits. The pass also offers the opportunity to purchase an extra adult or child at the time of purchase.
Our family activity pass offers a great £30 saving and is valid across Gorge Walking, River Rafting and Adventure Tubing activities.
So there you have it. We all deserve a break from our own 4 walls and it all those fun outdoor activities are actually right on our doorstep.
My boys and I hope to see you all soon, please drop us a line if we can help any further – info@naelimits.co.uk
Keep well and happy
