Team Building Breakdown
Corporate Events, Team Building, Workday out; the list goes on. There is a multitude of names and titles for companies to use when selling the idea of getting a group out together. It can be confusing and difficult for the organiser to know what they are booking and what they want to achieve: so, we have broken it down for you. With 22 years of experience running unique and bespoke “Team Building” activities, we can hopefully help you understand what you’re looking for and what you are wanting to achieve.
What is Team Building traditionally?
The term is used to describe situations or activities where enhancement of social relations, collaborations and definition of roles is the goal. Traditionally these activities are designed to acknowledge weaknesses within the workplace and take part in exercises to help improve on those shortcomings. These activities can be as simple as organised open discussion and as extravagant as a whole week away in a five-star retreat.
Does Team Building work?
A scientific study in 2008 showed that team building has positive results in improving team effectiveness. Improvement in processing, inter-workplace trust, communication and other key areas were all a direct result of organisations undertaking some form of Team Building. I know fancy, right?!
Why is it important now more than ever?
The answer to this is obvious, we know. After long periods out of the office, with minimal face-to-face contact, the importance and benefits of team building are staring us right in the face. With more and more challenges facing the workplaces of today and mental health in the workspace, on the rise; team building has been given a new lease of life and is now at the fore of effective ways to improve not only work efficiency but also individual wellbeing. The long and short of it is that no matter what you label it, team building is an integral part of a happy, effective workforce.
But guess what – it doesn’t have to be all “clipboards, discussion groups and graphs”, it can be fun. Maybe you want to help improve your systems or maybe you just want to reward your team, regardless of the reason, we believe that whatever the activity, people should have fun, build friendships and have lasting experiences that they can thank employers for.
