Our Surrounding Towns
Dunkeld: A Rich Experience in Scottish Culture
For those staying at some of our self catering options, you should definitely take the 5 minute drive to the nearby town of Dunkeld. A jewel in its own right, Dunkeld is a town filled with a richness in its cafes and grocery providers.
Host to some of the best produce providers in town, there is a world of choice if you are looking to purchase some local produce. Opened and run by Flora Sheddan of The Great British Bake Off is Aran Bakery, a home of delicious breads and baked goods that tempt all that pass by. If wine is more your thing, you must visit the alcoves of The Scottish Deli, where not only is the wine in abundance, so is their knowledge of the product.
Famous in the area is The Dunkeld Fish Bar, known for its incredible fish and chips! It was even named one of the Top 50 chip shops in the UK and we think it has definitely earned its title. If you’re looking for a fine dining restaurant you should try The Taybank. With a conventional indoor dining setting, they also have a gorgeous outdoor dining space overlooking the River Tay that serves wood-fired pizzas, seafood, flatbreads and more. They even have a Winter Outdoor Spa area you can book for the evening.
While visiting Dunkeld be sure to take a stroll around The Hermitage, a magical stretch of Perthshire forests, rivers and waterfalls. It’s a friendly stretch and a beautiful little walk to wind down on. Why not pop into the Beatrix Potter Gardens just across the bridge in Birnam, the home of Peter Rabbit and his woodland friends.

Pitlochry: Traditional Scottish High Streets and Stretches of Gorgeous Landscapes
Pitlochry was originally a Pictish town that is situated on the banks of the River Tummel. Famous worldwide for its lights show named The Enchanted Forest, the town of Pitlochry is a popular spot for tourists and staycationers alike.
If you’re spending the night at the Fisher’s Hotel we recommend popping into Cidsin Bistro for a selection of Indian premium dining options, as well as an urban gin bar. For those looking for a more traditional Scottish menu may wish to try the Restaurant at Knockendarroch which currently holds two AA Red Rosettes.
When holidaying in Scotland it is almost mandatory to take part in a whisky distillery tour and Perthshire has many options to choose from. Nearby to Pitlochry is the Blair Athol Distillery, one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland that is still in production. Blair Athol’s ancient source of water – the Allt Dour – contributes to the whisky’s mellow and smooth finish as it runs through the rich landscape from Ben Vrackie. Stop by for a dram of some of Scotland’s finest.
If you’re looking for some more adventure after your Nae Limit’s adventure, we recommend putting on your hiking gear and climbing one of our closest Munros, Schiehallion or Ben Vrackie. Munro climbing is very popular throughout Scotland, and due to these Munros being some of the more regularly visited sites, they are well sign posted and a good option for those looking to try out hillwalking for the first time. Ensure you are prepared before tackling any of Scotland’s Munros with the appropriate hiking gear and safety equipment.

Looking for a City Break?
The closest city to Nae Limits is Perth, which is just a 30 minute drive away straight down the A9. Here you can enjoy a multitude of fine dining restaurants specialising in Scottish cuisine, as well as exploring one of Scotland’s most historical cities.
The city centre is always busy with local traders markets and buskers. Take a stroll down Perth High Street and pass the St. John’s Shopping Centre, filled to the brim with a selection of clothing stores, book shops, cafes and more. Further down the street you will approach Perth Concert Hall, which hosts incredible acts and artists from all over the world. Comedians, orchestras, plays and more are all on offer.
Perth is a city steeped in Scottish history. Surrounded by dramatic scenery and well cared for historic buildings, the streets of Perth were once walked by the most respected Scottish royals. Be sure to walk along the banks of the River Tay to see the gorgeous Victoria Buildings, designed by local architect Andrew Heiton that date back to 1872.
Just a short distance from the centre of Perth you will find Scone, famed for being the location where Kings were crowned and traitors met their end. It’s where William Wallace famously led the Raid on Scone in 1297, which is now commonly know as the first War of Scottish Independence. We definitely recommend a trip to Scone palace to learn about the rich history of the area and take a gander across the beautiful regal gardens that surround the palace.
If you’re looking for a place to stay in Perth city centre we would recommend The Holiday Inn Express or the Premier Inn on Mill Street, right beside two of our favourite Perth eateries, Kisa’s and Paco’s.
By choosing Perth as your city break destination, you are only 30 minutes away from all of the action and adventure activities we provide at Nae Limits. Combine your bungee jumping and quad biking activities with a night on the town – why not!
